I stepped into the software industry straight out of a mechanical engineering degree, hired as a technical writer. I had no idea what the job was, but it turned out the missing technical background was an advantage — as a less technical user, I knew how to simplify information for people like me.

9+ years in, I'm still part of the quiet middle, closing the gap between how a product is perceived and how it actually works. The last 5 years, I've mostly focused on API documentation.
